Our Primary Water Sources

At Kibwezi-Makindu Water and Sanitation Company (KIBMAWASCO), we take pride in delivering natural, fresh water from two pristine springs—Umani Spring and Kwa Venge Spring—ensuring reliable access for the Kibwezi, Makindu, and Mtito Andei communities. These springs form the backbone of our water supply system, allowing us to meet the growing needs of our customers while promoting sustainable water management practices.

1. Umani Spring

• Service Areas: Kibwezi, Mtito Andei, and surrounding areas
• Production Capacity: ~2,061 cubic meters (m³) per day
• Supply System: Pumping and gravity-fed distribution

The Umani Spring offers a robust water source, leveraging both pumping and gravity flow to distribute water across Kibwezi and Mtito Andei. This dual-system design ensures an uninterrupted supply, even across varying terrain, making it possible for us to reach households, businesses, and public institutions efficiently. Our commitment to resource conservation ensures that the Umani Spring is maintained sustainably to serve the needs of the present and future generations.

2. Kwa Venge Spring

• Service Areas: Makindu and surrounding areas
• Production Capacity: ~1,706 cubic meters (m³) per day
• Supply System: 100% pumping

Kwa Venge Spring plays a vital role in supplying the Makindu area with fresh water. The system relies entirely on pumping technology, allowing us to deliver water from the source directly to our customers with precision. Our technical team monitors operations daily to ensure consistent quality and reliability, preventing any disruption to this essential service.
